Never Washed Away - Rebuilding Mantoloking

**The title of this video was changed from "Sand and Splinters" due to a request from the producer of a similarly titled video. We decided to change the title rather than fight it." I am posting the REVISED video below, but the content of this post has not changed. There is an updated post in the blog as well.**

On this day - one year after our state was changed forever - we want to share part of a project we've been working on. Mantoloking, NJ was one of the hardest hit areas. We've been there throughout the year to take a look at what life has been like for the residents of this small shore community. The video here is just a small glimpse of the stories we've heard. There are many other towns throughout the state that were hit hard - some worse than this. Many families can't afford to rebuild, are still waiting on permits or other legalities, or have other situations that make this one year remembrance very difficult for them. Our heart goes out to those families and we pray that they can get back to a normal life soon. Our intent with this video is to show those that haven't been able to see the devastation first hand what it was like for some, and also to show the hope that comes after tragedy - the desire to rebuild, the strength to know that one day, you will have "normalcy" again. My overwhelming thought as we spent time in Mantoloking is how every day is a reminder of the superstorm that hit one year ago today. It is a continuous construction zone, with the sounds of tractors and national guard trucks replacing the quiet sounds of seagulls and the seashore. This is just one story among hundreds from Superstorm Sandy.
